How the count works. Both your arrival and departure days count as full days present — the same way border officials and tax authorities generally count them. The Schengen figure adds up every day you spent in the Schengen area during the 180 days ending on the date you choose (limit: 90). The US state figures count days per state within a single tax year (Jan 1–Dec 31), which resets each year. A stay with no departure date counts through today.
